Plant of the Week: Japanese Boxwood

Feature Plant of the Week: Japanese Boxwood

Boxwood is another plant that would fall into the low maintenance and easy care categories. It has a bright green foliage that darkens to a deeper green with age. The leaves are small and rounded and the plant naturally grows upright.

Boxwood makes a great foundation plant or as a smaller, lower growing hedge to border walkways or properties. It is cold hardy, drought tolerant (does not like wet feet!) and generally deer leave them alone. They thrive in full sun and are moderately salt tolerant.

These plants are slower growing and only grow 2-4 feet in height and about 2 foot across, so keeping them looking good is pretty easy.
