October Newsletter: Pruning & Water Regulations

Pruning:

In early fall finish pruning and grooming trees and perennials. Pruning time for azaleas, camellias, bougainvillea, gardenias and poinsettias has past.

Water Regulations:

Cooler weather and Eastern Standard Time also bring changes in watering. Even though it is not as hot and plants don’t require as much water, watering is still needed- just more judiciously.

*Watering regulations change in Palm Coast with the arrival of Eastern Standard time:

Watering is now restricted to one time per week- odd numbered homes can water on Saturday and even numbered homes on Sunday (between midnight and 10 am.) Homes, with in ground wells can water on Saturday or Sunday as well (depending on your house number) however may water between 10am and 4 pm. Irrigation is limited to 3/4 of inch per zone so check your output by placing some tin cans around and measure how much water you get during your set times.

Conserve our water, it is a precious commodity! Mulching your plants, of course, lessens how much water your plants and trees will require.
