Wax Myrtle

Height: 7′ – 25′
Spread: 5′ – 12′
Zone: 7 – 11
Salt: Good
Light: Full Sun / Partial Shade
Deer: No
Notes: A true Florida native that grows in abundance. Wax Myrtle is a vigorous and east to grow plant that succeeds under a wide range of conditions. Once established it is drought and salt tolerant and can be used in seaside plantings. The shrub can be used to create wildlife-friendly screens and hedges that provide privacy. If untrimmed, the shrub can grow very wild with multiple trunks and irregular shapes. Specimen trees can also be created by pruning lower limbs and training into bonsai-like shapes. Can tolerate wet or dry conditions.

Viburnum ‘Odorotissimum’

Height: 7′ – 20′
Spread: 5′ – 12′
Zone: 8 – 11
Salt: Poor
Light: Full Sun / Partial Shade
Deer: No
Flower: White in the spring
Notes: Where complete screening is wanted for privacy or noise control Sweet Viburnum is one the best options. Fast growing and will stay full from top to bottom when it receives at least 5 hrs full sun. These plants grow quite large and are NOT recommended for home foundation plantings where they will cover windows, grow into eaves, or with constant pruning become bare at the bottom with large, heavy trunks. Plant 4′-5′ on centers for dense screening. Evergreen and cold hardy.
