Preventative Measures

February is the month that action should be taken to prevent future problems. Spray Camellias, Junipers and Cypress plant material with a horticultural oil to prevent scale and mite infestation. Roses should be given a “rest” right now- they don’t go dormant in Florida so we must provide one : strip leaves off and trim them back (not KnockOut or Drift Roses).

All roses should be fertilized now. For plants that have chronic fungus problems such as roses, citrus or any type of plant material- spray liquid systemic fungicide now to try to prevent future problems. Repeat again two weeks later.
