Plant of the Week: Salvia Mystic Spires

Mystic Spires Salvia is a compact form of another very popular Salvia called Indigo Spires.

It produces masses of the blue flowers all throughout the summer and into the fall. It is very tolerant of both high heat and humidity and rarely bothered by deer. They have low to moderate salt tolerance.

Salvia requires full sun and this variety grows about 18-30 inches tall and 18”-20” wide. It is a perennial so if it freezes back it will return in the spring.

Salvia is very drought tolerant and doesn’t like to be overwatered. It can be pruned as needed and will reflower after trimming.

Salvia is a great attractant for both butterflies and hummingbirds and makes an excellent choice in any garden.
