Washingtonia Palm

Height: 50′ – 75′
Spread: 10′ – 15′
Zone: 8 – 11
Salt: Moderate
Light: Full Sun
Notes: Very fast growing palm that performs best in full sun but will tolerate partial shade. Once a popular palm to put around a home soon became and maintenance nightmare. Because of their rapid growth, pruning the dead fronds will require the hiring of a professional to scale the large trees. Once reached a certain height on a typical home, the crown (the prettiest part of the palm) can no longer be seen and you will be left looking at sticks. Tolerates poor soil, drought tolerant once established, is rarely bothered by pests or disease, and has moderate salt tolerance. Recommended for extremely large houses or commercial projects.
