Notes: Queen Palms are one of the most popular palms around and can be seen all throughout Central Florida. With their slick grey trunk and dark green lacy fronds, they are about as tropical looking palm as we can get for this area. During the summer months, the Queens will deck themselves out in stalks of beautiful white flowers. In early winter, huge amounts of fruit appear. Bright orange 1″ oval dates hang in impressive 6′ bunches created a colorful show. If not pruned off, the fruit will drop and rot attracting insects and critters looking to snack on the fruit. Queen Palms look great in groupings and off the corners of the house. Their height will frame out the house and create a beautiful tropical backdrop. These palms are not salt tolerant and are sensitive to cold weather. Fertilize 3 times a year in March, June, and September with Nursery Man’s Sure Grow 8-4-12 to keep it looking it’s best.
