Crape Myrtle

Height: 15′ – 20′
Spread: 10′ – 12′
Zone: 7 – 9
Salt: Moderate
Light: Full Sun
Deer: Usually Not
Flower: Pink, Purple, White
Notes: Mature, established trees will bloom for almost 2 months. It’s value in the landscape as a medium sized specimen makes the Crape Myrtle one of the most widely used ornamental trees in the southeast. Proper pruning (avoiding the incorrect practice of topping) allows the tree to have a beautiful, characteristic, winter silhouette during the tree’s winter dormancy. Removing spent flowers right after blooming will promote another flower flush. Drought tolerant once established. Fertilize late February with Nurserymen’s Sure Gro slow release bloomer.
